Mama Jan Smith |
I bet your kids have.
And if you have seen Justin Bieber’s 3D movie “Never Say Never” then you most certainly know about Mama Jan.
The new rumor is that Greyson Chance may be teaming up with the now famous vocal coach and super producer to let her work her magic on his vocal chords and help develop Greyson’s singing voice and career.
And that’s exactly what she did for Justin Bieber as he grew from a young teen singer into the World’s most popular pop star.
What gives this rumor credibility is that for twenty years Jan Smith has been a prominent figure in the music industry either as a singer, songwriter, producer, consultant or, most notably, the vocal coach and vocal producer who has tended to some of the most unique voices in the business.
Bieber, Smith and Usher |
Bottom Line: Jan is a pro at knowing how to grow young immature voices into huge World famous big voices.
Jan says,
"When I work with an artist, I love taking all the pieces and putting together that puzzle and having the artist do the best they can do. Then I use that as a road map to help them become better vocalists and to show what they are capable of. That's the coolest thing in the world."
But there is another angle to this story.
Jan is also the co-founder of “The Bridge Music Foundation” – an organization that supports and develops young new artists by giving them the necessary resources while protecting them from the pitfalls of the music business.
And that might just be the key for Greyson Chance.
His current record label is spearheaded by none other than Ellen DeGeneres who is great at doing television, but might not be the best when it comes to the day-to-day development of a young artist like Greyson.
By involving Mama Jan in his development, like she did with Justin, he has a better chance of emerging into the semi-adult music scene as a super star in a few years.
And Mama Jan’s Bridge Music Foundation also plays a key role in the PROTECTION of young talent including issues about money, contracts, tours, public relations, traveling, paparazzi, girls, negative press, haters, social media, etc.
The idea is to surround Greyson with a professional mentoring group as well as a vocal couch. And if there is any doubt whether Jan can get the job done she says,
"I'll put my skills up against anybody. I do vocals all day every day. I might not be the best at tweaking a kick drum, but you wanna mess with me on vocals? Bring it on."
While there has been nothing made official, we’ll know soon enough because Jan’s main studio and office is in Atlanta and if we start seeing Greyson coming and going then there is a good chance Smith has become involved in his career.
And we think that would be a good thing, and shows us that Ellen and Greyson’s family are looking out for him and have his best interest at heart.
Go get ‘em young man!
