Video - Greyson Chance Wins Second Place in Billboards “Mashup” Awards for “Empire State of Mind”

Greyson Takes 2nd Place in Billboard Mashup
Collaborations and covers mean big business in the music industry, and when an artist decides to cover one of your songs it’s an honor.

Well, this week Billboard has declared Greyson Chance’s mashup of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' "Empire State of Mind" the number two winner!

Mashup Mondays is Billboards weekly video series where they ask an artist of one genre to cover a totally unexpected song from another genre.

This week they recruited 14-year-old piano player and song writer Greyson Chance to tackle no less than Alicia Keys and Jay-Z's New York super hit, "Empire State of Mind”.

Chance told Billboard,

"I picked 'Empire State of Mind' because it's obviously out of my element. It's an R&B song, Jay-Z is rapping on it. I heard it right when it came out and I fell in love with it."

This is one of the more tender performances we have seen from Greyson and we were very impressed.

Not bad for a kid eh?

Congratulations Mr. Chance for your second place win!
