Greyson Chance’s Moline Performance to be Broadcast on NBC – Asked about Winter Tour!

Good news Greyson Chance fans.

A couple of months ago, Greyson met up with his touring partner Cody Simpson, and friends Shane Harper and Ariana Grande to put on a show in Moline Illinois.

You probably won’t see any videos on YouTube of the Moline concert because the event was being filmed by NBC television to be rebroadcast in a January 8th 2012 special presentation.

The rules were clear – “No video, flash or professional cameras allowed.”

That means if any videos do surface on the internet they will probably be taken down pretty fast. We did find one early promotional video and two fan videos of his performance, and since it was done back in October Greyson still has his old hair cut.

But just because there are no OFFICIAL videos doesn't mean that fans in the audience were not able to capture Greyson's performance!

Thanks to cicishort98 for uploading their fan shot video of his performance of "Waiting Outside The Lines" and "Cheyenne"!

The Skating Spectacular show was part of NBC’s Progressive Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular, a Pandora NBC Skating Series Event, which features some of the world’s best figure skaters in combination with sensational musical performances.

The Executive Producers of the show were Disson Skating, a partnership with Comcast/NBC which every year produces eight nationally televised figure skating spectaculars featuring celebrity guest artists.

Greyson Chance
This was the third show in the Pandora Skating series and was filmed 10.29.11 at the “i Wireless Center” in Moline Illinois. The complete show will be aired on NBC January 8th at 8:00 EST.

The event was hosted by Olympic champions and legendary competitors Peggy Fleming, Nadia Comaneci and Bart Conner.

The show featured performances from two-time Olympic figure skating silver medalist Elvis Stojko and 2008 Olympic all-around gymnastics champion Nastia Liukin. The gymnasts were led by Liukin, and 2008 Olympic Silver Medalist and two-time and current U.S. National all-around Champion Jonathon Horton.

Greyson took some time before his performance to talk with a rep from Disson Skating and answered a few questions:

(Q) - Your family is full of musicians; did you want to start playing the piano because of your brother and sister?

“Well, they’re pretty musical but I decided to do piano on my own! It was always just sitting there and one day I just decided that I wanted to play it! I eventually started teaching myself, and then I started taking lessons. The piano is my favorite instrument, I am glad I picked it up.”

(Q) - So you are going to perform with Cody Simpson, Ariana Grande and Shane Harper in the Progressive Skating & Gymnastics Spectacular show at the i wireless Center tonight, have you ever skated or participated in gymnastics?

“No I haven’t actually! I am so excited to see the skaters and gymnasts. Also, I am great friends with everybody performing, so I am excited to see some of my old buddies! I am going to be opening the show, which is quite exciting.”

(Q) - You and Cody Simpson toured quite a bit over the summer and here you are again together participating in a nationally televised show for NBC. Did you and Cody get to know each other pretty well on the road?  Any funny stories to share?

“Cody and I had such a blast touring together! We grew really close. I was always pranking him with silly string and other stupid pranks. Ha ha we had a lot of fun.”

(Q) - What is the status of your 2012 tour schedule? Will you be with Cody Simpson again during your 2011-2012 winter tour?

“I can’t say too much about the winter tour right now, but I can tell you we will be in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, and a lot of other places. We will also do another North American tour in 2012, and will probably hit up Latin American fans in Chile, Brazil, and Argentina. We will also do Europe and Australia. I’m already in the studio writing music and rehearsing for the tour shows and we have a LOT of exciting stuff to announce. Stay tuned!”

For now Greyson is headed back to Los Angeles to continue his work in the recording studio preparing new music and finalizing his 2012 schedule.

Video - Greyson Chance Performs “Heart Like Stone” Live

Greyson Chance Performing "Heart Like Stone" Live
One thing we like about Greyson Chance and his new album “Hold on ‘Til The Night” is that every song is very different.

Different feel. Different sound. Different vibe.

In “Heart Like Stone” Greyson uses his lower register more and doesn’t sing up in his high falsetto much which we think gives this song a very mature sound.

It’s always difficult in a live show to hear the natural sound quality of a singer’s voice so we have provided both a live performance and a studio version with lyrics.

For “Heart Like Stone” we have to say we like the studio version better and think this would be a hard song to perform at a live show.

Now listen to the studio version and you hear so much more deep emotion in not only Greyson's voice but also the musical score.

Maybe they can tweak it a little and come up with a better version for use during live shows.

This is one of Greyson’s more serious songs and another one he will be able to use over and over as he ages and his voice matures.

In fact, we’re starting to see that in a lot of his songs they have actually been written to sound good today – but will sound even better in a couple of years after his voice has dropped and stabilized a bit.

Either way, it looks like the kids got some great producers and coaches working with him behind the scenes.

And Greyson has a great ear and knack for picking good songs.

See you at the top Mr. Chance!

Video - Greyson Chance Performs at the IHG Conference in Las Vegas

Greyson Chance with Sugarland at the 2011 IHG Conference
Greyson Chance met up with his mentor Ellen DeGeneres and the band Sugarland earlier this week to perform at the IHG 2011 Americas Investors and Leadership Conference in Las Vegas.

The event started on Sunday with a golf outing for the participants and wrapped up Wednesday Evening after three days of conferences and seminars.

The grand finale to the conference was a three hour show called “Ellen DeGeneres and Friends”.

Ellen, along with the band Sugarland, Javier Colon from the Voice, singer Tony DeSare, and young Greyson Chance, entertained the audience at the conference wrap party Wednesday evening.

Greyson later took to titter to post a picture of him with Sugarland and to say,

“Just played with @sugarlandmusic and @javstwtr in Vegas! What a great show...”

The event was a private symposium and was not open to the public – that’s why it was not listed on Greyson’s official event schedule.

For now, Greyson is traveling to Moline Illinois to perform with Cody Simpson Saturday night at the “I Wireless Center.”

Greyson Chance Performs “Edge of Glory” Live in Pennsylvania

Greyson Chance fixing technical problems live on stage
We just ran across a video of Greyson Chance singing Lady Gaga’s “Edge of Glory” live at the Chameleon Club in Lancaster Pennsylvania – and it’s funny.

What we loved about this video is it shows a tired and drenched in sweat Greyson trying to perform one last song during his encore.

The problem?

First, his microphone wouldn’t work and he had to get a new one, then his piano wasn’t plugged in right and he had to wait for his road crew to get things hooked up correctly!

We’ve heard a lot of studio versions of Edge of Glory but this is one on the better live performances.

Greyson just recently returned to Los Angeles to continue rehearsing for his upcoming 2011-2012 Winter concert tour.

He has already confirmed Indonesia and Singapore will be on the list of cities he visits.

Video - Greyson Chance Interview at Variety’s “Power of Youth” Charity Event

Greyson at "Power of Youth"
Last weekend Greyson Chance was invited to the Variety “Power of Youth” charity event in Hollywood to perform a couple of songs as the organization celebrated young artists and their commitment to charity.

Greyson performed an acoustic version of his hit song “Hold on ‘til the night” and walked the yellow carpet so photographers could snap his picture.

Before going inside he took a minute to talk to host Taryn Brooks who was interviewing all the artists before the party started.

We are still working hard to find a video of Greyson’s actual performance and will post it as soon as we can.

Video - Greyson Chance Pulls Prank at Ice Cream Shop

Greyson behind the scenes
What happens when you combine Punk’d, Candid Camera, and Greyson Chance?

You get Greyson on the internet prank show "Your Friends Will Never Believe You" pulling a practical joke on a fan in a local Hollywood ice cream shop.

The premise of the prank revolves around giving away a free Greyson Chance milkshake to a customer, when Greyson suddenly appears and starts complaining about the ingredients and quality of the shake.

Greyson says, “He told me it tastes like cra#” and then storms out of the store leaving somewhat of an awkward moment behind...

We’re not sure if the joke went down as well as producers thought it would – but we’ll let you be the judge.

Okay, the video is an internet production only video for a project called “Y Screen” from Yahoo, and we are pretty sure they could have come up with a better, funnier joke.

The project describes itself this way,

“In each episode, Nickelodeon's Ryan Rottman, Tanner Beard and their celebrity friends will conspire with our team of hidden cameramen to surprise a fan with a stunt ‘Your Friends Will Never Believe.’”

But hey, Greyson was still funny and we can’t all be like Ashton Kutcher!

Video - ABC News Tries to Explain Why Greyson Chance Became Famous – #EpicFail?

Greyson on ABC News
Sometimes when adults try to explain what happens in the life of a teenager it turns out to be an epic fail.

And when they try to comprehend why artists and singers like Greyson Chance and Justin Bieber are so popular they clearly seem confused and unable to understand the phenomenon.

When ABC News set out to document the rise of Greyson’s career they had the opportunity to really do it justice, but we think they fell a little flat in their attempt.

Don’t get us wrong – it is a great video and interview, but you can almost smell the skepticism in adult host Neal Karlinsky’s voice - who, well… just doesn’t seem to understand Greyson’s incredible success so far.

Greyson Performing on Stage

Everything in the interview is real, and Greyson explains things from his heart – but the host just seems confused as to why people love him!

Oh you funny adults….. Don’t you realize yet this has turned into a kid’s world? We run things and you just don’t know it yet.

During the segment Greyson talks about feeling like an oddball while in middle school and how lonely things get when he is on the road.

He also talks about the awkward feeling he gets sometimes when spending all his time around adults and business people.

He also gives us a good look at his tour bus complete with his bunk bed and collection of fan gifts.

video platformvideo managementvideo solutionsvideo player

Maybe it was just us, but host Neal Karlinsky just didn’t seem to get it at all. Couldn’t you just hear the confusion in his voice?

But we love any Greyson video or interview where we learn something NEW - and we did with this one.

Another good interview where Greyson talks about being lonely while on the road was his interview on 20/20. During that one he actually looked like he was ready to cry when asked if he got lonely. Aww…

Related: Greyson Chance 20/20 interview – Video

Now we just have to wait for the release of his 2011-2012 winter tour schedules and to see if he will actually win a Grammy Award this season for his hard work.

Video - Greyson Chance Bonus Track “Running Away”

Greyson Chance Piano Man
Ever heard the song “Running Away” by Greyson Chance?

Not a lot of people have.

The song was supposed to be included as an exclusive bonus track on the United Kingdom’s version of Greyson’s new album “Hold on ‘til the Night”.

But we hear that somehow it never made it on the U.K. album so producers made “Running Away” the bonus track on the Asian CD version.

This is one of the coolest songs we’ve ever heard! Too bad they didn’t distribute it more – it could have been a hit!

Here are the lyrics for "Running away" from our Lyrics Page.

Maybe they thought people would get it confused with “Slipping Away”.

What do you think? Did you like it?

Video - Greyson Chance Performs on “Good Morning Texas”

Greyson in Dallas on "Good Morning Texas"
This is what we love about Greyson Chance – he can show up in a Texas television station looking like he just crawled out of bed and sit down at the piano and belt out a tune.

And THAT’S exactly what he did.

Greyson made an EARLY morning appearance on the popular TV show “Good Morning Texas” to perform “Unfriend You” and “Waiting Outside The Lines”.

He also took some time to talk with the hosts about his album and traveling around the country with his family on his tour bus.

Greyson will be at the JCPenney in Dallas on Saturday afternoon to sign copies of his CD “Hold on ‘til the Night” and perform a few songs.

Greyson is well connected with JCPenney and has done work for them in the past with after school programs for kids.

Video - Greyson Chance Talks about His Favorite Video, Getting a Car, and His Fans!

MTV released a video last month of an interview they did with Greyson Chance a while back that is hilarious.

Now, why they sat on it for so long we don’t know but we’re glad they finally decided to release it!

Greyson talked about getting a car and learning to drive, and in the second video he talks about the “older” female fans he has (meaning MOMS) and how they can be worse than his teenage fans!

He also talked about his favorite internet viral video which is “Charley bit my finger” and how lonely it can be on tour.

And just in case you’ve never seen “Charley bit my finger” then you can watch it here and picture Greyson watching it on his tour bus when he’s lonely!

Video - Greyson Chance Already Plotting His Role on “Glee”

Greyson on Glee?
Greyson Chance has already appeared on the sitcom “Raising Hope”, and has just finished recording his voice role for this years “American Dad” Christmas Special – so what does the 14-year-old singer want to do next?

Greyson Chance wants to be on Glee!

That’s right. And he has even gone as far as developing the story line for his episode should producers decide to welcome him as a guest on the show.

Greyson told Glee creator Ryan Murphy that he loves the show and has already created an idea for an episode with him.

The plot goes like this:

Finn’s father has died and he learns his dad had a secret romance that resulted in Greyson’s character being Finn’s half-brother.

Confused? We’ll let Greyson tell it in his own words:

Word is the producers of Glee are aware of Greyson’s desire to be on the show and have already discussed the possibilities with his management team – including Ellen DeGeneres.

In fact, last Year Ellen helped spearhead a push to have fans tweet creator Ryan Murphy saying they wanted to see Greyson on the show.

We hear from a little bird that if there is an episode it would likely be taped and aired during sweeps week in May of next year.

Anther little bird told us of a different idea being kicked around where Greyson is the nephew of Sue Sylvester who transfers to the school and joins the Glee Club to act as a spy so Sue can thwart the efforts of the Club.

Greyson Chance
Young Greyson playing the evil role of Sue’s accomplice?

Brilliant!

Nothing official has been announced and all we have heard from insiders are just rumors.

But we think there WILL be an episode with Greyson at some point “when the time is right”.

Please don’t make us wait too long!

Greyson Chance to Lend His Voice to “American Dad” Christmas Special!

Cast of American Dad
Looks like young Greyson is once again stepping back into the world of television!

His first TV job was on the sitcom “Raising Hope” last month, and this time he will test his skills at humor on the hit animated show “American Dad”.

This is good news because “American Dad” is a funny show spearheaded by Seth MacFarlane who does the voice of Stan Smith as well as many other voices on the show.

The show follows CIA Agent Stan Smith and his dysfunctional family Francine, Steve, Hayley, Rodger the Alien and Klaus the fish.

Greyson in the studio of American Dad recording his lines

Seth MacFarlane is not only the creator of American Dad but also the hit series “The Family Guy” – the story of the Griffin family.

The Griffin household includes two teenagers, a cynical dog named Brian who is smarter than everyone else, and an evil baby name Stewie who makes numerous attempts to eradicate his mother Lois.

And here we thought Greyson was taking a little vacation only to learn he was in the studio recording his parts for the American Dad Christmas show,
“Just recorded my voice for American Dad! I am going to be on the Christmas Special… Look out for it in December!”
Sneaky kid.

Know we can’t wait for Christmas.

Wow… Greyson’s got some pipes!

We were just out looking for good videos and happened to run across this amazing one of Greyson Chance singing the National Anthem.

It was before game four of the Western Conference Finals between the Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Since Greyson is their hometown boy he was asked to perform before a sold out crowd.

The kid knows how to growl.

We’re telling you, if he keeps this up he may have a chance in the music business <grin>.

Greyson Chance Already Getting 2012 Grammy Award Nods?

While it is still early in the 2012 Grammy Award nomination process, it seems that 14-year-old Greyson Chance is already getting his name thrown around.

Greyson’s new album “Hold on ‘til the Night” has been a constant presence on the Billboard “Under 21” music charts, and speculation is that "Gold" certification is only a month or two away.

So could he actually get a Grammy Nomination?

Yes.

The eligibility requirements for the 2012 54th Annual Grammy Awards say an album must be released between Oct. 1, 2010 and Sept. 30, 2011, and must be in general distribution in the United States.

That means that “Hold on ‘til the Night” and ALL individual tracks should be eligible for an award.

Even when there is a timing problem with the actual album release date, the rules state that all that is necessary is a SINGLE TRACK be released into the general market – and that includes iTunes, Amazon, and other electronic distribution.

That means there is no problem for Greyson meeting the eligibility requirements and now it is all up to the judges.

There have been some major changes to the Grammy rules for 2012 and several categories have been combined into one. This won’t affect Greyson’s chances (Get it? Greyson's Chances) because the categories were mainly in the crossover and hip hop categories.

Greyson could be nominated for his entire Album (Best New Album), or for an individual track (Best New song). He could also be nominated as an artist in the Best New Artist category or for Best Video for “Unfriend You”.

Much of the nominating process is political. That means that producers, engineers, and record labels have a lot to do with who gets nominated and who wins an award.

The bottom line is if the industry WANTS Greyson to get a nomination then he will GET one.

Regardless, we hear that he will at least be making an appearance as a guest, and may even get the opportunity to present an award or perform a song live.

There are 78 categories this year and you can see all of them plus the revised rules at the Grammy site here.

We like the idea of Greyson winning Best New Artist but think there is a lot of competition and would be just as happy if one of his songs took home an award.

Album sales won’t matter for his chances to win as the Grammy Committee does not consider sales volume or certification.

The Grammys are the only peer-presented award to honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, WITHOUT regard to album sales or chart position.

Details are already leaking out about the 2012 show - like Shakira is going to be honored as the 2012 Latin recording person of the year, and that Paul McCartney will be awarded the charity award of MusiCare Person of the year.

Next year’s Grammy Awards ceremony will take place February 12th at The Staples Center in Los Angeles California.

There will be some big stars trying to win the coveted award including Adele, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Kanye West, Sugarland, Lady Antebellum, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Pitbull, and Rihanna – we just hope our little Greyson gets a lucky break!

We think he might because earlier this year Greyson took part in the teen Grammy Camp for charity after THEY approached HIM to lend a hand.

This video shows that Greyson is already a familiar name to the organization and since he helped them out at the 2011 Grammy Camp then maybe they will help him by giving him a nomination or two.

Also, with Ellen DeGeneres backing him there should be enough political clout to push the nominating process through.

Good luck, and we wish you the best Greyson!

Video - Greyson Fox Live on Fox and Friends

Greyson on "Fox and Friends"
Greyson Chance took some time out a few weeks ago to visit with Steve Doocy at Fox and Friends in New York City.

After taking questions from the audience and saying that his album “Hold on ‘til the Night” was inspired by teenage heart break, he started his set with “Little London Girl”.

He then introduced all the members of his band witch is the first time we’ve seen him do that during a live show.

His last song was “Waiting Outside The Lines” but he did an encore of “Light of the Dark”.

Not bad for a 14-year-old.

We are definitely starting to see Greyson getting stronger with his vocals and his stage swagger is becoming more refined.

And now he is a TV star as well!

A couple of weeks ago he made his television debut on the hit show “Raising Hope”. For those that didn’t see him sing the blues you can watch a special preview clip here:

Did Ryan Good Jump Ship to go Work for Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance?

Ryan Good
The rumor mill is running rampant this week after Ryan Good announced he was leaving Justin Bieber’s team to “pursue other interests”.

What could those interests be?

The gossip mongers are saying now that Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun has signed up to manage Cody Simpson that he has also tapped Ryan Good to act as Cody’s new swagger coach, mentor, and tour manager.

In addition to Ryan acting as “Style Coach” for Justin Bieber, he was also the main man behind the scenes planning, promoting, and executing all the details of his concert tours.

Scooter Braun
Ryan Good knows the business and knows how to get things done!

And since Bieber had a soft spot for Ellen DeGeneres, and Ellen signed Greyson Chance, and Greyson and Cody are friends and tour together - Ryan may also have been asked to work with Greyson as well.

One gossip person of particular mongerish insight says,
“It’s not about honing their talent as much as it would be to provide swagger, mentoring, and tour support. These kids need to stay kids as long as possible and not get lost in a world full of adults.”
Indeed.

If you look back at Greyson’s 20/20 interview the poor kid was almost in tears when he talked about how lonely it gets while on the road.

Related: Greyson Chance 20/20 interview – Video

But think back to Justin’s early days waiting backstage between shows when he had Segway races, played ping pong, had water balloon fights, had his friends Chaz and Ryan on tour with him – this is kid stuff and part of what Bieber claims helped keep him grounded and able to still be a kid in an adult world.

With Scooter managing Cody and working with the Cody/Greyson tour team later this year on their 2011 Winter Tour, it makes sense for Ryan to step in to help them stay grounded and have a chance to still be kids, and to also have someone who can manage and promote large arena shows with Scooter.

And THAT’S what Ryan Good is known for.

Justin and Scooter
All we have heard are rumors and nothing has been officially announced, but the music business is one big happy family and it sounds like a very plausible plan to us.

We have no doubt we will once again hear “Aw C’mon” being uttered backstage by Ryan Good – but next time it may be at a Cody Simpson and Greyson Chance concert.

Can you picture Cody and Greyson sporting bright red Vans, wearing women’s jeans, and learning some killer dance moves?

Video – Greyson Sings “Purple Sky” At HRC Dinner Last Night – NEW VIDEO!

Greyson Sings Purple Sky Live
He did it!

Greyson Chance sang “Purple Sky” live last night in Washington D.C. at the 15th Annual HRC Dinner.

“Purple Sky” was a great song to sing live at an event that supports gay, lesbian, transgendered and bi-sexual equality and national civil rights.

Greyson and Cyndi Lauper both performed to the sold out crowd of 3,000.

“Don’t let them change you because you are beautiful, just like the purple sky!”

Man, does he look sharp in a suit!

Greyson even gave a shout out to those that have already gone to that great place in Heaven after he finished the song saying,

“Thank you, and thank you to everybody watching above.”

What a very mature young man.

Greyson Chance Talks about his Dark Side and Being a Twitter Stalker!

Greyson Chance tells AOL he Stalks Twitter!
You have to admit that in the last two years Greyson Chance has accomplished a lot.

With a U.S. Concert tour with Cody Simpson behind him, the release of his first solo album “Hold on ‘til the night”, and an appearance on “Raising Hope”, Greyson has not just been sitting around his tour bus!

Now the 14-year-old super star comes clean to AOLMusic about his “Dark Side” and about being a twitter stalker.

AOL: Your life has been pretty crazy lately. How do you stay grounded in the midst of this whirlwind?

“I have an amazing team around me. I have an amazing set of parents that keep me grounded. It's honestly not that hard when you have good people around you. Sometimes it overwhelms me a little bit, but I always just try to stay back and stay normal.”

AOL: Did you always want to be a musician, or is this a happy accident?

“I've always wanted to grow up to be a musician. I remember I'd be five or six and I'd watch old Michael Jackson videos and listen to Michael Jackson records, and that's where I'd see myself. Of course, I didn't really turn out like Michael Jackson, but I got somewhere.”

AOL: In a recent post you mentioned that you were writing a song based on an Edgar Allen Poe poem. Are you a secret goth?

“I'm a bit of a dark kid. On the album, 'Hold on 'Til the Night,' there's a song called 'Heart Like Stone' on there that's very Gothic. It's not like heavy metal, but it's a very Gothic and dark tale of heartbreak.”

AOL: You've mentioned in interviews that you like to lurk on the Twitter accounts of your fans.

“I'm a huge Twitter stalker. It's quite funny, actually. My fans are sending me tweets like "Stalk my twitter, Greyson!" When I'm in certain cities and I know certain super fans are going to be there, I'll look at their Twitters and I'll be like, "OK, so they're going to be wearing those jeans tonight that they made with green paint" and I learn everything about all the things that they bring. They tweet things like, "Oh we got Greyson this teddy bear." So when they come to the show, I say, "I know where you got that, I know how you made that!" And they're like, "Oh my God!" It makes their day, and I love that.”

We knew it! We had heard rumors that Greyson stalks his twitter followers and now we know the truth!
